(Almost) my entire Sailor Moon collection!
New adds in my collection!
First, my Henshin Moon doll! I got the outfit separate and I'm not actually sure what series the Moon doll is from. I love this outfit on her, though! When I got the Henshin fuku and accessories, they were in a big doll clothes lot and I didn't realize what I had at first. I thought the pink skirt was a random doll outfit and actually tried to sell it x_x then I realized it was actually attached to what's supposed to be the fuku base, and the skirt and collar and bows velcro on. I don't know what I was thinking. I'm still missing her wand, gold headband, and the heels and some bows for the skirt.
World Super Chibimoon. I sold her extra civilian outfit without realizing she was supposed to come with one (I thought it was sold separately...) but oh well, I would like to eventually buy her with the box and everything anyway ^^
Manga Eternal Moon! I have a bunch of extra Eternal fukus, and one was missing wings so I thought I'd make her some new ones, and some manga styled accessories! So far I only really have the brooch and.. one hairclip. (I don't know where the other one went). I did also make her some gold Moon accessories, odango shields, and a choker gem. I still need some ribbon for her choker and the back of her fuku, and to make boot covers for these Barbie boots. I'll post her again when she's completed.
This is SOME of the huge lot of doll clothes I won on eBay a few weeks ago. I'm still not entirely sure what to do with all of it, lol. I mostly got a lot of Beauty Change ESM fukus and Crisis dresses, but I also got the Amazoness outfits (except for JunJun :/), Excellent Team Saturn AND BC Saturn, and even more Henshin accessories. I think it's intriguing how the Crisis dresses vary. The one on the far right has a different back bow than most of the ones I have (I think it was from S while the others are the SuperS outfit?) and the one right above the Henshin skirt is a completely different style from the Japanese fukus altogether.. I think it's from the Hong Kong doll? Does anyone know for sure?
Random dolls I don't have any specific plans for yet. I like to hoard loose Moon dolls, I probably have about 20 of them. I don't know what the hell is up with the thing on Chibi's foot, lol. The naked Moon doll came with a pearl necklace and crown, which I might try to make more NQS-like in the future.
And finally, the Spiral Heart Moon Rod! I got this for cosplay, although the plastic handle has faded in a really ugly way. I might just end up repainting it.
Sailor Cosmos resin figure
After a fan poll several months ago declared Sailor Cosmos as the figure they'd most like to see made, Ori has finally got some of these exquisite Sailor Cosmos figures up for pre-order. (I love the animation sequence they made!) If you've never painted a resin figure, don't worry; you can order them pre-painted! Even if you're not a Cosmos fan, this figure is gorgeous. I can't wait to buy one myself.
You can see the gallery of in-progress pictures and concept art here.

(Almost) my entire Sailor Moon collection!
Yesterday, I made a big post on my Livejournal of almost every Sailor Moon item I have! Some of them are only in group pictures, and some have individual pictures taken of them. I decided not to post it here because it would take up too much room, but it's available for anyone to view: http://fabulouslylazy.livejournal.com/45476.html?#cutid1
Eventually, I'd like to go through and take comprehensive pictures of everything, as well as set up a better storage method. But for now, enjoy!
Also, I've set up a Twitter account for this blog, but I'm not really a Twitter user so I'm still working with it. It's here.

Brand new Italian merchandise?!!

DiC Sailor Moon promotion pamphlet - some interesting facts about Sailor Moon merchandise
-"Sailor Moon" is the most sucessful property in the history of children's programming - over 90 million fans and 1.5 billion in retail sales worldwide!
-The cartoon is NUMBER ONE in France, Spain, Japan, and Hong Kong.
-In Japan, "Sailor Moon" is the biggest sales and merchandising phenomenon ever - bigger than the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and the Ninja Turtles combined!
1.5 billion? And this was put out before Sailor Moon even hit North America, or PGSM came out, etc. If this is all true (and I'm not sure how much it is), then it would seem even more likely that the recent announcements about Sailor Moon being shown in Italy and Japan again could lead to another merchandise boom.
This also brings up a few more interesting questions. I wonder how much money they made with the 10th anniversary merchandise? PGSM? My guess is that it wasn't as much as when the anime was on TV, yet still a significant amount.
I'm also curious what the current resale market is like for Sailor Moon. You could probably get a rough estimate of this if you tracked everything sold on eBay, Amazon, and Yahoo! Japan. Sometimes, it seems like there are more people collecting than before.. but that could just as well be due to more people using Flickr, Livejournal, Blogspot, etc.
Finally, while we're talking about money, check out this post on the sm_secrets Livejournal community and scroll down to the second-to-last secret.
Fascinating stuff.

Sailor Saturn Vivienne Westwood earrings?
When I first saw these earrings by Vivienne Westwood, I thought they were really pretty. And that was about it.Then, suddenly, IT HIT ME. I'd seen them before.
HA! Is it just me? Am I just looking for Sailor Moon references in EVERYTHING? (I know I'm not the only one, at least!) Regardless, this is probably the closest representation of Sailor Saturn's earrings I've seen, outside of ones custom-made for cosplay. They're not perfect, but I think the resemblance is nevertheless uncanny. Plus, I always thought the Outer Senshi would wear designer clothes (and one of the dresses Setsuna wears in an artbook is Chanel!)
Custom Sailor Moon Classic doll!
Custom Sailor Moon Classic doll!
I have a bunch of extra Sailor Moon dolls missing their fukus and accessories, so I decided to use one as a base for a custom Classic SM doll! I'm using this artbook picture as a reference. So far, it's going well. Here's how she looked last week:This was before the reroot. I've also changed her brooch since then. Here's how she looks today:
She has gloves and accessories! YAY!
I still have a few more things to do - finish styling her hair (her bangs are a mess) and make a new mask. She also needs a choker and a way for her pearl hair clips to stay in her hair. All in all, it's been a really interesting project; I can't wait to see the finished result.
wanna be sailor moon :)
Sailor Moon Photo Shoot with Jodie
By Neil Creek • January 25, 2009
A Sailor Moon costume photoshoot was planned on the Manifest forums for quite a while, but everyone soon started dropping out. In the end, only Jodie was able to make it, but we were still keen to go ahead. Fortunately Jodie is a fantastic cosplayer and good friend, and together with Nakey (Mark) as another photographer, the three of us had a lot of fun shooting photos in a local park on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Jodie looked gorgeous, don’t you think?
The shoot was great fun, and we really enjoyed all the bemused, amused and amazed views from the others in the park of all ages. The childrens’ reactions were especially entertaining, and some of the parents were even overheard to say “I used to watch that show!”
The clear sky and time of day we were shooting resulted in very contrasty light, so most of the photos you see here were assisted by using off camera flash, in the strobist style. I’ve included exposure details and strobist information under each photo below.
Scroll to the bottom of the post, beneath the photos, to see links to my gallery of the full 100 photos from the shoot, as well has the photos that Nakey and I took on Jodie’s camera, linked to her gallery.
